How to Be Productive Around the House

Aug 7, 2009 11:14 PM

A very large percentage of the more wealthy and more technologically advanced nations around the world spend their life in front of some sort of a screen. Many households will only clean their house when they have company over. Life can be more enjoyable when you have a house that's constantly clean.

Be productive around the house and feel in control of the cleanliness of your house along with the feeling of accomplishment and a job well done.

  • Vacuum every carpet in your house.
  • Vacuum every tile or wood in your house.
  • Clean your windows.
  • Clean your mirrors.
  • Go pull every weed in your front and back yard.
  • Dust every surface, knick-knack, fan, and screens.
  • Clean out your refrigerator and pantry.
  • Fix everything that needs fixing and is fixable.

Understand that this list can go on and on for a long time. Don't always do only what people tell you to do. Don't always just do your chores. You are allowed to go mow the lawn for your dad, husband, etc. You are allowed to go clean up your bathroom for your mom, wife, etc. When you see something that needs to be done, and you're capable of doing it, then do it.

Do it the best you can. If you only give half the effort and get the job done as quickly as you can, which is what most people do, then you won't feel that great sense of accomplishment your dad always told you about. That is the main reason why people are lazy and don't want to accomplish things. They do a half-hearted job and don't feel the sense of accomplishment afterwards.

Tips

  • There will never be not enough things to do around the house. If you can't see anything, then find something.
  • Always try your best. The harder you try, the better the outcome and the better you feel.
  • Even if you don't feel like doing something, start doing it anyways. Once you start, you'll feel like finishing and you'll start having fun. But if you don't try your hardest, you'll never feel like it.
  • Once you start something, finish it.
  • This doesn't mean you aren't allowed to do anything that isn't productive. It's o.k. to play video games and sit back and watch TV. But don't make it your life. You still should get in some work to keep your house clean and enjoyable.
  • Don't brag about what you do. Don't tell people what you've done unless they ask. If you do, then people will think that you are only doing things to make other people look lazy and make yourself not.
