It may sometimes be desirable to live trap mice rather than catch them in a kill trap. This trap can be used with or without bait.
Cut a bicycle inner-tube to an appropriate length.
Put one end in the mouse hole, as in the picture.
Bend the other end downwards into a glass jar, such as a quart jar, that is big enough so the mice can’t climb back out. Ensure that both ends of the inner-tube are open so the mice can easily get through.
Place a few pieces of dry ice around the edge of the bottom of the jar, this will cause the mice to become drowsy and they consequently won't try or succeed in escaping.
Tips
- Place some peanut butter or other food into the jar to more easily lure the mice.
Warnings
- Be sure to cover the top of the jar securely before removing the mice; even small mice can bite.
