How often do you fight with your shower doors? Maybe not literally (although my elbow has smacked the hard glass many times), but when it's time to clean the bathroom, getting a few weeks' worth of soap scum and grime off the shiny, clear surface becomes an insurmountable task. Whether you use a special cleaner and squeegee or a carefully selected wipe, chances are you still battle the streaks and grit left behind.
Although it might not make sense to steal cleaning supplies from the laundry room to clean your bathroom, the solution to your disgusting and spotty glass shower doors is hiding in your static-removing dryer sheets.
What You Need
According to Rachel from Everyday Simple, all you need for spotless, shining shower doors is water, dryer sheets, and a scouring pad, and the process takes only a few steps.
Instructions
Dampen your dryer sheet, and rub it on your (dry) glass shower door. The tricky spots should begin to slough off. Dryer sheets, unlike traditional cleaners, contain ingredients that are known to help soften fabrics and absorb things like static and hair—and the same goes for scum. It softens what's hanging onto your shower door, and gently eases it off the glass by sucking it into its own fabric.
If your soap scum is stubborn and doesn't want to leave without a fight, a scouring pad is good at finishing the job. Gently rub the scouring pad against the glass, and the residue should slip off quickly.
Just don't forget to rinse the doors after. Otherwise, you'll be left looking at a very cloudy, messy glass door.
Don't Leave Your Dryer Sheets in the Laundry Room
Now that you've found a new use for your inexpensive and effective dryer sheets, check out a few more ways to use them around the house My favorite way to remove static from my hair (I seem to collect static) is with a combination of a dryer sheet and hand lotion.
You can also use them to dust around the house, polish tricky mirrors and other reflective surfaces, clean computer screens, and keep mosquitos at bay. With their soft, gentle scent and versatility, they're more than just a laundry product to keep nearby.
